About the Federal Employers' Association for Personnel Services (BAP) temporary employment agencies offer politicians an annual visit in the summer. Under the title "Practical test temporary employment", members of the Bundestag and candidates visit individual companies to gain an insight into current issues and concerns surrounding temporary employment.
Last Monday we were visited by the SPD candidate for the Bundestag in Leipzig, Dr. Jens Katzek, at our branch there. Press spokesman Dr. Ralf Eisenbeiß and area manager Martin Seeber spoke with him about initial experiences with the new Temporary Employment Act and about job opportunities for people with placement barriers.
Dr. Katzek, a biochemist, knows his way around the business world. He knows not only laboratories but also production halls from his own experience. As a business promoter and managing director of the Automotive Cluster East Germany he is well networked in science and the automotive industry. He speaks regularly with entrepreneurs and therefore knows the needs and concerns of both small and medium-sized businesses and large corporations. He is aware of the importance of temporary employment as an instrument for the export-dependent German economy.
Dr. Katzek and the representatives of Franz & Wach agreed that for many people the Temporary work as a springboard to employment in the customer's company is important. This is especially true for people who have a hard time on the labor market, such as older people, migrants or unskilled workers. However, if temporary employees have a Unlimited contract possess and earn the same as permanent employees of the temporary employment agency, then a takeover is sometimes no longer desirable for them. Both occur more often at Franz & Wach, as Martin Seeber assured. That's why the staffing company doesn't want to be seen as a second-class employer and does everything it can to ensure that employees feel comfortable with the company in the long term. The basic idea here is, that "we offer people a perspective through employment that inspires them in the long term and in which they can develop" says Dr. Ralf Eisenbeiß.
For two hours, experiences were exchanged and facts discussed. At the end, all participants confirmed that such a personal exchange between politics and business is very helpful for mutual understanding. Dr. Katzek thanked the HR service providers for the diverse insights and the open discussion.
