Crailsheim has also had a fixed place in the schedule of recreational athletes for several years. Every year on German Unity Day, a trial of strength takes place in the city center. The two-kilometer downtown loop features a downhill section and a long uphill stretch. Depending on the race chosen, it has to be completed twice or five times.
The sport of running has been cultivated among colleagues at Franz & Wach for several years now, and the "Franz & Wach Sports Team" regularly takes part in company runs. This year, on the occasion of the city run at our company headquarters, we also wanted to motivate our temporary employees to lace up their running shoes. So an appeal was made to several hundred employees. However, having already had positive experiences in company sports, where we had invited the refugees living in Crailsheim's collective accommodation for regular soccer training, we were in good spirits. And indeed, 5 employees came forward who wanted to join us on the track.
So on the morning of October 3, nine external and internal employees from four different countries took part in the Crailsheim city run. The message was emblazoned from the red running shirt to the "runners behind":
Franz & Wach
Clear. Smart. Competent.
... and always one step ahead.
The runners not only had a lot of fun on the course that day, but also brought it with the 3rd place in the team ranking of the Jedermann race also a very respectable result. Even though someone finished ahead of us at the end, the shared experience was a great thing - and another small building block for refugee integration. At Franz & Wach, we are all colleagues, regardless of our function or where we come from.
