The number of people who have been unemployed for at least a year or more fell significantly within just under a decade. At the peak in 2006, around 1.9 million people in Germany were still affected by unemployment. Long-term unemployment affected, the number had fallen by 2014, according to a Statistics of the Federal Employment Agency to around one million. The proportion of long-term unemployed among all employable people without jobs also fell by around 20 percent in a comparable period. With this development, Germany ranks among the top European countries.

One important reason for this is the fact that Germany relies on support for the reduction of long-term unemployment. private service provider who have specialist knowledge within their business area.
